Two years have passed since Capital City Care made history and opened our doors as the District’s first medical marijuana dispensary.
Since then, the bright blue building on North Capitol Street has become the dispensary of choice to more than 1,400 District residents. What started with a trickle of patients, seen by appointment only, has grown to a larger staff and expanded hours to ensure our growing patient base continues to have access to medical marijuana.
“Establishing the first medical marijuana dispensary in our nation’s capital has been the greatest experience of my life; a culmination of 15 years of hard work to bring effective medicine to an underserved population of ailing DC residents,” said David Guard, general manager.
With two years under our belt, we have come to know and appreciate each and every one of you. Return patients like Christina Turner, who enrolled in December, are greeted by name and experienced staff members work to guide new patients through the world of medical cannabis.
“Capital City Care is a class place with classy people,” Ms. Turner said.
Over the past two years, CCC has expanded menu options to periodically include new flower strains, hash, tinctures, hash oils, and an assortment of glassware and accessories to enhance the medical cannabis experience.
Manager Scott Morgan said a lot has changed since CCC first opened, but he can remember standing across the counter from the first patient like it was yesterday.
“What we do here is deeply meaningful to me and it began as a dream, long before we had a name, a location, or a team put together. I’m grateful that Capital City Care has become a very real and vital part of the District and I look forward to many more anniversaries to come,” he said.
To commemorate this second anniversary, this month CCC launched several exciting anniversary promotions including a month-long food drive, sweepstakes, and discounts on our Patient Supported Cultivation (PSC) program.
Speaking of PSC (our version of a membership program), be sure to check out next week’s blog for details on the new upcoming PSC Express, another way to celebrate our members. For those who haven’t joined, this month is also prime time to sign up and save $20. Donate a can of food and earn a punch for each item (up to 5 per day).
Don’t forget to get your entries in for a chance to win prizes that include a PAX 2 vaporizer (grand prize), PSC membership (second prize), or Graffix Water Pipe (third prize). Remember, you can enter once a week and no purchase is necessary. Also this week only, take advantage of “2 for 2.” That’s double punches for our patients!
