2016 has been an amazing year at Capital City Care. Not only have we seen our family of patients continue to increase, but the dispensary staff has grown to make the patient experience educational and enjoyable.
Our menu has continued to expand with a variety of strains including the addition of new concentrates, CBDs, cannabis-based topicals and accessories. We also increased our selection of accessories, some in part due to patient interest including pre-rolls, several new vaporizer pens and bowls.
Our patients have continued to assist in our effort to support the surrounding communities with our anniversary and holiday food drives and other events.
Across the District we have also seen expansion of the Medical Marijuana Program as well as policy changes across the nation.
“2016 saw some important changes to the District’s medical marijuana program,” said Scott Morgan, manager. “Although they have yet to take effect, new rules increasing the purchase limit and allowing patients to visit multiple dispensaries are going to make the program stronger and more beneficial to patients.”
Here We Present Capital City Care’s Highlights of 2016:
BEST OF DC
This year, Capital City Care was named the “Best Marijuana Cultivation Supplier 2016” in the “Best of DC” issue by the Washington City Paper. The “Best of DC” features nominations by readers and staff picks in 300 categories, ranging from “Best Restaurant When Someone Else Pays” to “Best Go-Go Band.” The first “Best of DC” issue hit the newsstands in the mid-1980s, and was brought back as an annual feature in 2008.
“This recognition of the extreme value of our medical marijuana products and the top-notch customer service Capital City Care provides came as a very pleasant surprise. It is truly a great honor as we’ve strived so very hard over the last three years to bring quality care to our patients,” said David Guard, general manager.

Prospective patients can now schedule a consultation appointment and meet with staff to answer any questions and begin the application process. We’ll even schedule your doctor’s appointment!
NEW FEATURED MENU ITEMS
Our menu now includes a line of cannabis-based topicals, including pain relief cream and spray, body wash, deodorant and facial mask. We also added rosin and CBD products to our inventory.
NEW PSC PLATINUM PROGRAM
The Patient Supported Cultivation (PSC) program was upgraded to the new PSC Platinum option. This new plan offers even more benefits including a complimentary gram, $5 cash back for every $100 spent and express service.
NEW PATIENT SPECIAL
Capital City Care continues to offer savings and promotions for prospective and current patients. As part of our new patient special, we now offer up to a $100 dispensary credit equal to the application fee. We continue to offer free transfer fees for eligible patients.
MONTHLY EVENTS
Our monthly “Meet the Grower” event was expanded to “Meet the Author,” and has been a popular stop for patients to meet and chat with members of our cultivation team. We hope our patients to continue to give us feedback each month.
AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
Patients now have the opportunity to earn free grams and other incentives such as tickets to local events. The program is free to join. Email maishah@capitalcitycare to learn more about how can earn rewards.
DC COUNCIL APPROVES CHANGES TO THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA PROGRAM
The D.C. Council passed the Medical Marijuana Omnibus Amendment Act of 2016. This includes several significant changes to D.C.’s medical marijuana law. If signed by the Mayor, the new law must undergo a Congressional review period before taking effect. Some provisions will also require additional time to develop new administrative procedures.
Thank you all for another successful year. We are looking forward to serving you all in 2017 and expect more new and exciting products and events! Have a safe and happy New Year!
