We all have our personal favorite strains of choice here at Capital City Care.
Behind door number one, there’s Jack Herer. He keeps us productive, often chatty and giggly, and a pleasure to medicate with when you have things to do.
Then behind door number two, you have Blue Dream. My favorite go-to hybrid strain for creativity and focus.
There there’s Fire OG, just behind door number three. She’s a lovely hybrid lady, elevating your mood and easing your pain.
And let’s not forget Master Kush, a favorite for sleepy-time, when counting sheep just isn’t working out.
But for many medical marijuana patients, the need to medicate simply for pain relief can be challenging. Looking for that perfect strain that will address the aches and pains of various conditions, with a minimal of the heady high, can take some research.
This week, we added a few new products to our menu, including Trainwreck Type II (sativa), Krypto Type II (indica) and Cherry Pie Type II (hybrid). These strains are CBD-rich products, which can offer a number of benefits, including easing pain.
CBD is one of more than 60 chemical compounds found in marijuana, called cannabinoids. It offers a number of medicinal benefits of medical cannabis without the mind-altering effects, giving the chemical a significant advantage as medicinal source.
CBD is non-psychoactive because it does not act on the same brain pathways as THC. These pathways, called CB1 receptors, are highly concentrated in the brain and are responsible for the mind-altering effects of THC, according to a review in “Current Drug Safety.”
This gives the chemical a major advantage as a medicine, since health professionals prefer treatments with minimal side effects.
While everyone reacts differently to various strains, in my personal experience I have found those high in CBD have had a significant impact on pain levels, while allowing me to go about my daily activities.
Depending on your condition, CBD-rich strains can offer relief from a number of symptoms, including nausea, seizures, inflammation, anxiety, and depression. CBD-rich strains are also known to help combat psychosis disorders, tumors and cancer cells.
If you are looking to try something a little different for your medication needs, come try one of these!
