This year marks our 5th holiday season since we first opened the doors at Capital City Care in 2013. It’s been another busy year at the dispensary and we’re grateful once again for the opportunity to serve our community and help make the Nation’s Capital a comfortable and caring home for medical marijuana patients. As 2017 comes to a close, here’s a quick look at what stood out for us this year.
Events: Though we’ve always made an effort to participate in community events, this year was our most active yet. Our team hit the streets for numerous charitable events including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Walk to Cure Lupus, and the 5k Walk to Prevent Cancer. We also had a blast tabling and signing up patients at popular festivals like Crafty Bastards, the Funk Parade, and the H St. Festival. Opportunities like these help us give back to the community and connect with District patients in new ways.
New Products: As D.C.’s medical marijuana program continues to evolve, it should come as no surprise that our menu just keeps getting better. New strain selections like Ghost Train Haze, Larry OG, and Durban Poison had flower fans coming back for more. This year also saw the long-awaited debut of a variety of new edible products, ranging from chocolates and snack bars to full extract cannabis oil. Finally, patients who prefer concentrates have enjoyed an ever-growing supply of cartridges, rosin, honey oil, and more.
New Patients and New Staff: Welcoming new patients to the dispensary has always been one of the highlights of the work we do and this year brought many new faces into the Capital City Care family. Our staff has also changed over the years and we’re grateful to our team for continuing to make the dispensary as warm and welcoming as ever before. The work we do is certainly a lot of fun, but it comes with its share of challenges and we can’t thank our patients and staff enough for making Capital City Care a great place to be throughout 2017.
We’re looking forward to the coming year and expecting more big changes that we believe all D.C. patients are going to find exciting. In the meantime, we wish everyone a joyous and healthy holiday season and we’ll look forward to seeing you again soon!
