Your medical marijuana card is your key to the dispensary, so it’s important to make sure you keep your card up-to-date. In our experience, it’s a good idea to see your recommending physician at least 30 days before expiration to ensure that your paperwork is submitted ahead of time.
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Physician Recommendation: To renew your medical marijuana card, you’ll need to receive a new physician recommendation. This can be issued by your previous recommending physician or a different doctor who participates in the program. Our staff is available any time to help you make arrangements.
Patient Application: You will need to submit an updated patient application, using the same form you completed for your initial medical card. This will include your proofs of residency and other basic information. Many doctor’s offices provide full assistance preparing and submitting your application, but we are also available to help if you need us.
We’ll Pay Your Application Fee: As a Capital City Care patient, you’re entitled to full payment of your application fee on us. Once you’ve completed your doctor visit, you may bring your application materials to us for assistance and we’ll gladly cover the fee and submit the application on your behalf. Some doctor’s offices can also accept your completed application and arrange fee payment with us separately.
Receiving Your Renewed Card: Once your renewal application is submitted, you will typically receive your new card in the mail within 3-4 weeks. You may continue shopping with us during this time if your previous card is still active. If your card has expired, you will have to wait until you’ve received your new card to begin making purchases again.
Call us today at 202-670-4420 if your card is expired or will expire soon and we’ll be happy to assist you with the renewal process. Thank you for choosing Capital City Care as your dispensary and please contact us any time if there’s anything we can help with. We hope to see you soon!
