Strain: Gorilla Glue #4
Category: Hybrid
Genetics: Chocolate Diesel x Chem’s Sister x Sour Dubb
At Capital City, we speak often of our preference for classic genetics. With a menu made up of medical marijuana mainstays like Jack Herer, Blue Dream, and Master Kush, it’s obvious that we have a habit of honing our horticultural skills on strains that have stood the test of time. Nevertheless, the temptation to explore newer genetics is a strong one, and some standouts are too exciting to resist. One such strain is the explosively popular Gorilla Glue #4.
As unexpected masterpieces of cannabis breeding sometimes do, this plant reportedly resulted from an accidental pollination that produced a product of exceptional quality. Its name describes the extreme stickiness for which it became instantly known, and the 4th plant, from which the first clones were cut. Fans of this exceptional strain will be pleased to know that #1 and #5 have also been preserved to ensure that additional variations of these special genetics are protected and made available to patients.
Though known primarily for its heavy resin profile, Gorilla Glue also exhibits the rich flavor and aroma you’d expect from a hybrid that combines elite Diesel and Chemdawg parentage. Fragrances of fuel, coffee, and skunk are found, along with a dense covering of trichomes ideal for producing superior concentrates. As potent as it is pungent, Gorilla Glue is known for displaying significant THC percentages. Still, the effect is famously clear and focused, providing patients with a tasty alternative to the sometimes cloudier qualities of the common kush strains. Relaxation and reduced stress are often reported by patients, as is fast relief from pain and depression.
Unheard of before 2014, this modern hybrid burst onto dispensary menus in Colorado and California over the last two years and shows no sign of slowing down. Some have even suggested that it was the strain of Summer 2016. If that’s true, then we’re running a few weeks late, but we’re excited to debut this highly sought-after strain for the first time in the District exclusively at Capital City Care.
