Don’t forget to bring in your nonperishable food items for our annual holiday food drive benefiting SOME (So Others Might Eat). For every item donated, patients can earn 5 bonus PSC points, with a limit of 10 items (up to 50 points) through November 31. With the support of volunteers and Provide-A-Meal groups, S.O.M.E. serves a hot breakfast and lunch to hungry men, women and children in their dining room on O Street every day of the year. Last year more than 400,00 meals were served in the organization’s dining rooms and residential programs. What began as a small soup kitchen in 1970 to help feed the city’s poor, has grown to a number of support services including emergency shelter, affordable housing, job training, mental health counseling and addiction recovery services, elderly care and an afterschool program.
