We are pleased to announce our annual holiday food drive benefiting SOME (So Others Might Eat) this month. For every item donated, patients can earn 5 bonus PSC points, with a limit of 10 items (up to 50 points) through November 31. You can drop off your non-perishable food items and collect bonus PSC points any time during regular business hours.
With the support of volunteers and Provide-A-Meal groups, S.O.M.E. serves a hot breakfast and lunch to hungry men, women and children in their dining room on O Street every day of the year. Last year more than 400,00 meals were served in the organization’s dining rooms and residential programs. What began as a small soup kitchen in 1970 to help feed the city’s poor, has grown to a number of support services including emergency shelter, affordable housing, job training, mental health counseling and addiction recovery services, elderly care and an afterschool program.
This year, S.O.M.E. will also hold the 14th annual “Trot for Hunger” Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
Each year thousands participate in the event to raise proceeds benefiting thousands of homeless families and single adults, including the elderly and people suffering from mental illness, by providing much-needed food, clothing and healthcare.
